Peripheral FDASX OEM CD 1995-2001 Ford / Lincoln / Mercury To Alpine, Sanyo, Audiovox CD Changer Interface
FDASX
Thunder AV Price: $25.00

Detailed Description

This interface allows you to adapt certain Sanyo, Audiovox, and Alpine M-Bus changers to select 1995-up Ford, Lincoln, or Mercury factory radios with CD controls. For some vehicles, you will need an optional T-harness. Disc Selection: The FDASX allows the factory radio to operate normally when using an Alpine 6-disc M-Bus changer, however, when using a Sanyo or Audiovox 10-disc changer, the following instructions need to be followed to access discs higher than 6: press the factory radio's preset button 1 twice for disc 7, press button 2 twice for disc 8, press button 3 twice for disc 9, and press button 4 twice for disc 10. A red disc status LED is attached to the interface on a 37" lead. The LED glows red when a disc higher than 6 is being accessed. Aux Audio Input: On one end of the adapter there is a set of female RCA inputs, which can accept signals from portable audio sources such as portable cassette, MD and MP3 players. There is a gray wire that must be connected to ground to activate the aux input. For convenient operation, the trigger wire should be extended and connected to an optional rocker/toggle switch in the front of the vehicle. Connecting the wire to a switch that can make/break the connection to ground will allow you to turn the aux audio input on/off from the driver's seat. The interface must have a changer connected in order for the aux input work; this cannot be used as a stand-alone aux input adapter. Connections: On the vehicle side, the interface has a 17" cable with a 12-pin Molex connector (10 pins present) that interfaces with the factory radio. On the CD changer side, the interface has an 8-pin female connector, stereo RCA jacks on a 6.5" pigtail, and an 11.5" gray lead. When connected to ground, the gray wire activates the optional RCA audio inputs. For convenient operation, this wire should be extended and connected to an optional rocker/toggle switch in the front of the vehicle; this set-up will allow you to turn the aux audio input on/off from the driver's seat.
