CDT Audio CS-256 Accent speaker system xover module w/LP-1 add $10.00 StageFront Technology UpStage, Accent and CenterStage systems
CS-256
Thunder AV Price: $199.99

Detailed Description

CDT proudly introduces the automotive Audiophile to the CDT accent system that provides unique control over extra speakers without necessary additional amplification. This system is designed to add front dashboard oriented typically centrally mounted accent tweeters or midrange drivers as well as rear speakers.
The LP-1 variable attenuator can be placed locally within reach for instant adjustment. The attenuator works synergistically with the CS-256 selectable filter to drive tweeters, midrange or full-range drivers .

CDT stage enhancement technology proudly announces CenterStage
In the world of high-end audio the terms imaging and staging refer to the complex sonic interaction of two or more speakers to produce a quality of spatial illusion in the sound field.

This means sound sources are heard to be in a certain place and perspective as perceived realistically.

In the AutoSound world this imaging is rarely achieved in any precisely consistent way. CenterStage? joins the Upstage? Stagefront? system to raise the automotive listening experience to new highs.

DT Upstage Stagefront first lifted the stereo image in the direction of the road ahead.
With the introduction of HD-2/CS CenterStage, the off-center perspective in a car is transformed.

This provides each person with his or her own stereo system in the critical forward direction.

Stagefront, UpStage and CenterStage Systems may be used individually or combined synergistically to provide the ultimate personalized listening experience.
HD-2/CS CenterStage provides each person with his or her own stereo system in the critical forward direction.
The HD-2/CS CenterStage 2 mid-Tweeters are driven with an image-correcting signal at a reduced level with a blending module that interfaces directly with the power amplifier.

Working in conjunction with the existing right and left mounted mid-Tweeters - ultimately including extra CDT Upstage mid-Tweeters - driver and passenger are each provided personally centered staging and imaging.

What does it take to make this happen
The CenterStage? mid-Tweeters are mounted in the center of the dash in close proximity to each other.
The centrally mounted pair provides a right and left Tweeter for each person.

These CDT supplied CenterStage? mid-Tweeters are selected to operate optimally in this Image-enhancing system.

Special miniature chambered mid-Tweeters with frequency extension into the middle frequency range transform the image more completely than simple Tweeters could.

The blending module employs a level control and with a provided mounting system optimizes installation and setup in any vehicle.
Introduction to the CDT Accent Control System

CDT proudly introduces the automotive Audiophile to the CDT accent system that provides unique control over extra speakers withoutnecessary additional amplification. This system is designed to add front dashboard oriented typically centrally mounted accent tweeters ormidrange drivers as well as rear speakers.
The LP-1 variable attenuator can be placed locally within reach for instant adjustment. The attenuator works synergistically with the CS-256selectable filter to drive tweeters, midrange or full-range drivers.

Operation
The LP-1 is self-explanatory -rotate the knob clockwise to add the desired accent to the system sound. The CS-256 has two switches one with
two-positions for attenuation labeled Level and another with three positions labeled Crossover for crossover frequency.

The appropriate choice is user determined for the circumstances. The Level switch on the CS-256 should be set to Hi if the LP-1 is fully
clockwise and still more sound is desired, otherwise the Lo position is preferred since the amplifier load and to some extent the crossover
frequency will be lowered.

The Crossover should be set to Hi for the hottest tweeter operation along with the Level to Hi and the LP-1 used to get the additional
attenuation since this gives the highest crossover frequency. In certain cases where the tweeter will handle the desired power, the Med and the
Lo level setting (LP-1 turned up) crossover setting may also be used.
Similarly Lo or Med can be used for a typically front mounted midrange with your choice of Level setting.
A rear speaker setup is usually set to Crossover Lo with the Level that works best. As a guide for reference the crossover frequencies are
achieved in a gradual first order manner centered at the following typical frequencies and attenuations:

Crossover Level Frequency Attenuation
Hi Hi 800Hz -7dB
Med Hi 400Hz -7dB
Lo Hi 150Hz -7dB
Hi Lo 500Hz -11dB
Med Lo 250Hz -11dB
Lo Lo 100Hz -11dB

The frequencies are somewhat higher for theHi Level and lower for the Lo Level, which are
interactive to a degree.
The levels are thus reduced approximately 7dBor 11dB prior to additional attenuation by theLP-1. Both units offer stereo operation andsupport balance control operation.

Installation

The diagram shows the system wired to anamplifier. The same outputs may also beconnected to drive the main speakers since theCS-256
additional load of 10 to 15 Ohms will not
significantly increase amplifier loading.
