4th / 5th Order "Transient Optimized Elliptic Topology" Crossovers
Engineering a perfect compliment to the highly acclaimed CDT drivers was an equally challenging task. "The Elliptic" crossovers, called SatNet, are an engineering breakthrough for car audio.

They use an ingeniously designed fifth order, elliptic type network that creates very distinct advantages over conventional "Butterworth" or "Linkwitz-Riley" passive filter topologies. This topology is so unique that this is the VERY FIRST TIME it has been used commercially in a car audio application.

Technically speaking, the SatNet crossover design is a fourth order/24dB per octave design supplemented by a series first order/6dB per octave on the front end. The unique combination of the two creates a virtual 10th order, 60dB per octave crossover where the critical crossover point between the mid and Tweeter is.

The benefits of the design are many. First, the power transition between midrange and Tweeter is virtually identical. Phase response problems and polarity shifts are almost entirely eliminated. What you HEAR, is a much more natural sounding component system, as if it were that one perfect speaker. And further engineering improvement are our "Transient optimized"
designs which you find in the 560-200Z,200US and HEX-5000.

All combined, you have the ideal link to some of the best car audio loudspeakers you'll ever listen to. EX-560i new 2007 is a cut above the all the above models. In this model the high pass crossover is replaced with a fourth order transient-optimized design. This delivers the cleanest possible Tweeter drive. Crossover takes place at a slightly lower 3.7kHz.The first order woofer crossover has a larger zobel capacitor for a lower crossover frequency to match. More than this a tapped inductor adds adjustability to this woofer crossover also. This suits different driver sizes generally. The adjustor is labeled by driver size (5.25 and 6.5). The image Tweeter is operated 3 db below the main Tweeter at a fixed attenuation. Protection is omitted for maximum sound quality. Terminals are 12 gauge block terminal, more robust military grade and arranged in a dual four arrangement versus a single line as in the prior models.
